Needing a break from the dress I was sewing yesterday, I found myself whipping on a pair of my dungarees from my major assignment work at University this year, and frolicking about. Oh why not.

I adore dungarees to a point where it's potentially a bit unhealthy, and part of their hilarious charm is their distinct unattraciveness. They're such fun to wear - if you're feeling blue just look at what you're wearing and bam instant joy!

(Tina Fey even donned a pair in 30 Rock recently... although granted it was to demonstrate un-sexy-ness)

Hurrah for AUT's 2011 Rookies!

Friday evening was the well-renouned AUT Fashion Design 'Rookie' Show - where a selection of 25 graduate students debut their collections in a perfectly polished show to huge crowds. My friends and I in 2nd yr helped out backstage all day as dressers and whatnot, and it was really rather fun! Despite the craziness it was marvelous to see up close the magnificent collections on show, and to be a part of the hustle and bustle with my favourite folk.

Here's hoping this time next year I'll be showing in Rookie! A few photos of our friday antics above... we worked too, I swear. Going to be popping up some photographs from the Rookie show soon - GET EXCITED!

Our most recent assignment at uni was a dress brief for construction, and this was my little number. Modelled by my lovely and gorgeous friend Emma who was roped in at the very, very last minute to be photographed in it awfully close to when it was due to be handed in. Ah, the wonders of time management! Or rather lack thereof.

It was a bit of a bitch to sew as the facings on the bodice require far too much thinking capacity than is avaliable when you're replacing sleep with caffeine.. But all in all I am pleased with it, so that's lovely.

The next assigment (trousers for construction) is due in next, so I may just try to have a go at being organised and wonderfully sensible with my time management...
Oh, the joys of optimism!

Penny-loafers are absoloute heaven. They hug your feet, make trampsing through the city a joy, and just scream to be worn with awkward length socks in all sorts of hideous colours. What could possibly be better?

I am confident that I can safely say my recent acquisitions of a black and a red pair are well worn-in now. Mission accomplished, no?

My friend Joseph and I had the most wonderful afternoon today, playing on the playground, trawling vintage stores, and buying baby toy green dinosaurs.

Joseph is studying for a Bachelor in Fashion Design at AUT with me this year, and he has fantastic style which is so inspiring. We have rather different design aesthetics, yet I adore everything he's made. Plus he's a bunch of fun!

Playgrounds are sites of endless fun and adventure, they never fail to evoke huge laughs and a sense of childness. It's only a shame that with age comes a growth in height, thereby making it slightly more difficult to execute the perfect flying-fox run...

It has been a horrifically long time since I last posted on here, and for that I have no real reasons other than needing a break. To be honest I am not terribly fond of photographing myself, but I do get a lot of enjoyment out of blogging so I will continue to do so.

A short while ago I splashed out on a beautiful, smile-enducing camera which I have not been able to put down at all. So this year my posts will be a muddled-up mixture of my photography, personal outfit posts, streetstyle images, and more besides. It's going to be a whole bunch of fun and I am terribly excited for it all to emerge.

Messing around on my beautiful Bernina the other evening, I whipped up this top from some leftover furry fabric. It’s a really basic cut, so whilst loitering around the sewing shop on Sunday I pounced on these fantastic feathers to jazz it up a bit.

Half an hour later (with my floor looking like a birds nest), I now have a feathery take on shoulder pads. Such fun!

I haven't posted in absoloutly forever, and my only reason is that I just needed a bit of a break. In heinsight, I probably should have said this was coming but it was all rather spur of the moment. But I am now back from under my rock and ready to roll.

I spurged big time a week or so ago on my first sewing machine, the beautiful Bernina Activa230. It is pretty much heaven, and I'm shockingly sleep deprived at the moment due to many a late night sewing session. Midnight sewing proves to be highly productive, so plenty of new outfits are in my ironing pile, ready to be photographed. Keep your eyes peeled...

There is sunshine today! Ridicuously exciting, as all my winter garments are beginning to aggrivate me. Summer is my favourite time of the year, and the warmer weather we've been having here the past few days is like a shot of happiness!

I whipped on the latest blouse I've made for a day spent running all over the place getting the last bits of my portfolio together. Applications for AUT are due in at the end of this week, and I'm off to hand mine in in the morning. Rather nerveracking, but also very exciting to see a lot of my work all come together. Celebrations will most definatly be in order after it's handed in!

Hurrah for the $4 t-shirt!

I made up this t-shirt at midnight a day or so ago, and wore it out last night for a fun evening. Tutorials on 4-strand plaiting were watched, nutella sandwiches were consumed and movies were laughed at.

For the t-shirt I plaited strips of the fabric and then hand-sewed it down on top of the top. A tad time consuming but I'm more than happy with the result. It's wonderfully exciting being able to start wearing warmer-weather pieces of clothing!

This dress makes me feel so special when I wear it, making it my favourite to whip on at any given time. I made it from a beautiful white velveteen that feels like a bunny rabbit and is so lovely to wear.

I have a sneaking feeling I'll be making more in similar styles. What could be more perfect than a dress that combines a fitted bodice, tulip skirt, holey back and in muted tones? Heaven, indeed.

I have previously made a red and white dress similar but always had the idea of a black and white, school-girl/nun-ish version. It would look neat with a studded black belt, but I am yet to get my mits on the right one. Patience is a virtue...

I took these images a little while ago when my new fringe dress arrived in the post. Somehow I managed to muddle up the camera settings and momentarily it lost all focus. I'm shockingly incompetent in all things technology. Browsing through images this morning though I fell for their soft haziness.

I'm not entirally sure what's up with me lately, all I want to dress in is either black, grungy styles... or pink. Rather bizzare, but I figure I may as well just go with it. Where's the harm, right?

I wore this to my friends new flat the other night for x-box, movies, good company and pie. All of life's necessities. Unfortunatly however, as much as I love this acid-wash hoodie it really is about as warm as a mesh dress. Needless to say it was a tad chilly.

My new favourite dress is this wonderfully Barbie-esque pink one I whipped up the other day. I'd forgotten how fun pink is to wear! It was beautiful beautiful weather yesterday so I assulted everyones eyes with my ghastly bruised legs. No clue how they got there but they're rather atrotious!

There's a 30-50% off sale at Global Fabrics at the moment, so I was courteous and paid them a little visit... I feel it's my duty to stimulate the economy.

Today I wore out my vintage beaded top that I thrifted awhile back. I am an utter magpie when it comes to sparkly and shiny things, and somehow it's always more fun to wear sequins during the day, no?

It was amazingly beautiful weather today which was so lovely. I spent the day stomping around downtown, buying Russh, sewing the bodice of a new dress, and being shown around the fashion building by my lovely friend Joseph. So darn excited to study there next year!

Remember how I said I was attaching everything to skirts? Oh yes, I was speaking literally.

On a caffeine high the other day I decided that sewing keys onto clothing would be the best thing since sliced bread. And this skirt definatly hasn't let me down. Not only is it sparkly and shiny, but it also turns into my own personal dukebox when I walk, making me feel like dancing spontaneously at any given moment. Fun times guarenteed.

So crazy excited about my latest acquisition: the most perfect skull ring!

I have been looking for one for zonks so its awfully exciting. There's a jewellery store on Lorne Street in Auckland city with the most insane rings in all sorts of vicious and macarbe designs. I have a sneaking suspicion I will be visiting a lot in the future...

The benefit of having tiny hands and fingers is that rings are automatically more chunky and offensive. The teeth on the skull are a tad sharp also, which makes it a million times more fun. Self defence in its finest form.

This skirt is quite possibly the cheapest I have made yet- $2.00 and completely breaking my bank balance. It's a fantastic furnishing fabric that I studded pannels onto, although only one side is visible here.

I wore it out last night with a gorgeous lace-sided leotard I picked up at Supre awhile ago. It has the most fabulous low back, although (again) it's not all too visible here. Jeepers, I really should have thought more about what I was photographing!

It was a fun outfit to wear though, and we all had a wonderful night. Going hunting for skull rings the next morning definatly made it a good time all around.

Goodness, sorry for the past week of neglect, I have been rather ill with a horrible vomiting bug. Charming, I know, and not all too pleasant!

To celebrate my second day of keeping food down, I went out with my friends last night. Any excuse to dress up... And to spend time with my beautiful friends, of course!

It was rather chilly, and the American Apparel double-U dress proved to be the perfect layering piece. Along with my new tights I mentioned a few posts ago, and quite possible the most comfortable shoes in history, it made for a fun night.

Oh, I also watched Sabrina for the first time last night. Such a beautiful film!

Exam time at the moment, so I've been a busy bee studying my brain off. 'Tis all good fun though.

There's been rather large changes as of late, also. In terms of what direction I am headed in. I have for the past year and a half been studying Law and Arts (English, Ethics...) at University, and although I have really enjoyed it, it has just seemed like something is not quite right. I love law, I do, but then again I pretty much love everything. I've had a semi-berakdown this first half of the year, just worrying over where I am going and what makes me happy. Seems my priorities have changed and I haven't been listening to myself. So after much debate and many pro-con lists I have decided on huge change. After my last exam on Tuesday I will not be returning to Auckland Uni. I will not be continuing with my Law degree.

I will be returning to study in 2010, to begin a degree in Fashion Design (!!!!!). SO crazy excited about this. It feels like I'm finally allowing myself to persue the path that I dream of and adore, rather than trying to deny my true passions. I love anything and everything creative. Sewing, writing, photography, drawing... I have been on a bit of a high this past week or so as I am so excited about where my life is headed now. For the next six months I will be working, travelling, and sewing my butt off!

I'd love to get some work, even unpaid, for experience in a fashion magazine or for a designer. If anyone (partucuarly New Zealanders) have any suggestions I would be so very grateful. Sorry for this rather large ramble. If you've made it to the end congratulations, you have surpassed my expectations :)

I think I had better warn you guys in advance that I have gone completely nuts with the sewing as of late. Lets just say that I am having a lot of fun embelishing my creations with anything and everything... Anything shiny makes it onto fabric somehow. I am a magpie!

It's exam time at the moment so my days have been spent alternating between studying and sewing. It's so wonderful to balance tedious study with the excitement of sewing. The perfect study-break activity!

Somehow I didn't get around to posting these images from a week or so ago. I am very much enjoying tying all my scarves into bows at the moment. I'm a girl, darnit, and I'll wear as many bows as I please!

My paretns bought the tights back for me from a business trip. They're gorgeous lavender fishnets, and I very cleverly deleted the close-up shot of them by accident. It was not one of my finest moments, but I shall pop up one soon to show you all as they are such fun!

A little while ago I found this hat (in the mens section) while out and about. It had huge red feathers protruding from one side and the brim was rolled up... I fell in love.

After chopping out the feathers and unfurling the brim to create a different shape, I am more than satisfied with the result. Having a warm, wool-encased head is just one of the excitements of winter. That, and seondhand mens army knits.

I have long harboured a facination with classic trench coats, somewhat due to the Breakfast at Tiffany's scene where Holly Golightly searches for Cat in the rain. Classic cinema at its finest. So when this gorgeous military trench coat came in at work at the beginning of the season, I practically dove on it. Now that it is finally chilly enough to wear it I've been trying it in all sorts of combinations.

It's equally fun to dress up and down. Combining it with docs and polka-tights is a perfectly fun way to stomp around campus.

I love messy, unwashed hair, pastel colours, sheer fabrics and lace. I think the most magical time of the day is sunrise. I love daisy's, I don't care much for roses, and I love lettuce plants. I think every girl should be two things: happy and relaxed. I think every guy should be two things: happy and relaxed. I think vegetable gardens, bunny rabbits, high heels and love are the keys to happiness. I think we should all stop and count our blessings. I don't believe anyone has the right to think another being is beneath them. I think everyone should read 'The Beautiful and Damned" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I believe sunshine cures all unhappiness. I love bus rides and tend to day dream on them, so it was a bit of a surprise to get off the other day only to find it was pouring down with rain around me. It was rather fun to be honest, walking home in the thundering rain while other people squeeled, ran and got rather angry around me.

Something that irritates me greatly is how girls are forever going on about their hair going frizzy in the rain. I admit I have in the past been this person, but now I just do not care. Life's too short, and crazy hair is such fun to laugh at!

Anyone remember the phenomenal Stella McCartney boots similar to these? I fell head over heels in love with them when I first saw them but tried to forget about them as they were far out of my price range. However... I saw these insane Siren boots the other day and the love was 100% reignited. Hello my new best friends.

I wore them out last night for a lot of fun amidst the bitter cold. They kept my toes toasty warm, calming me somewhat even when I had my phone lost/stolen. Ah, the sweet highs and lows of life.

Saturday night I went out with my three best friends for some long over-due catching up. 'Twas a wonderful time. I wore my favourite body suit, a nude American Apparel one. It makes me so happy, although I have had some unpleasent comments when wearing it recently. People can be mean!

Little fact of the day- I hate having my photo taken when out. Hence the fabulously flattering facial expressions.

Funny story behind this shirt. It was my sisters and I have wanted it since I was about ten. Due to sisterly love, I was never allowed it (all of you with sisters know what I'm talking about!) despite her not liking it. Ah, the joys of childhood.

I forgot about it until a while ago when my sister, now 22, was clearing out her closet and was going to give it away. I pounced on it, crazy with excitement. Nine years is a long time to wait.

Bows instantly put a smile on my face. They are fun, feminine and so darn cute that they instantly make any occasion a hundred times more exciting. I've been wanting to experiment with using scarves to tie bows, so today I had a go. The fabric wasn't ideal as my bow tended to sag a tad, but overall it made my day that bit brighter.

A day spent at home working on assignments calls for some comfortable, cosy clothes.

My first foray into the world of leggings, and yes, I cheated and only wore them at home. So insanely comfortable though! I never want to get dressed to go out ever again!

Since I felt a tad lazy with no makeup and only socks on my feet, I decided to give my hair the start treatment and attempted braids of sorts...

I snaffled up these cute polka-dot tights at Farmers the other day. It always disappoints me how childrens departments have such a huge array of adorable, bright-coloured socks and tights, and the adults are pretty much just black opaques. These are a perfect comprimise.

Along with them I found the most gorgeous pair of sheer tights with back-seam and bows. Call me crazy, but I swear I had heart palpatations.

So much for posting every day! Hmm.

Yesterday I took a much needed break from assignments and flew to Wellington for the day with my mother to see the Monet and the Impressionists exhibition at Te Papa. SO AMAZING. It was phenomenal seeing all these increadibly beautiful pieces of art. So very thankful I had this opportunity.

I also managed to pick up a few brilliant magazines while hiding out in Borders. Heaven!

I have definatly been having a love affair with all things blue lately. Navy and pale blue are two of my favourite colours to wear, and my recent purchases definatly demonstrate this.

This stripy top is so cosy as it's already worn-in, and my slouchy navy blazer is currently getting a lot of wear. With this I wore skinny jeans and my doc martens. The boots were black, just to mix things up a bit...

I found this dress at Supre of all places when out with friends a few weeks ago. I wore it out last week for teriyaki tofu (I know, I'm predictable) and book-browsing. I love the lines of it, it reminds me of a tutu for some reason. I put on my docs to tone down the girliness a tad.

Today is ANZAC day here and in Australia. I have just returned from attending the dawn service with my parents, which is so important to me.

Cor, I have been a BAD blogger as of late. Sorry! Life tends to get in the way sometimes, and I have been busy with a plethora of tests and assignments.

In light of this... I have decided to do a month-long 'project' of sorts... For the next 30 days I am going to post every. single. day. Should be a lot of fun!

I have been visiting the Disposals store on K'Rd lately, and have picked up some very exciting pieces. This striped tshirt is second-hand from the French Navy and is wonderfully warm (not to mention cheap!).

Seeing Red

Up until about a week ago I only had one or two red pieces in my wardrobe. Now I have significantly more. So strange, these fits of obsession.

This cardigan I saw at work awhile ago, and thought it would look brilliant if I chopped off the buttons and sewed on new gold and black ones. So I did. I am so pleased with the finished product, and my fetish-ness regarding chopping up clothes was satisfied.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful, love-filled easter! I was at the Easter Show all day with one of my best friends, and had a ball. Feeling slightly quesy from all the crazy rides though... Off to recover now!

I'm not usually one to wear all-black as I tend to prefer more neutral palates, but this outfit was calling out to me this morning. I'm a little obsessed with this frumpy skirt length at the moment, and am longing for the mid-semester break at university so I can jump onto the sewing machine and whip up a bunch of new things.

I'm thinking of doing a sort of "how-to" skirt tutorial as well if anyone would be interested? Let me know if you have any requests!

I promise you I don't look like that much of a cow in real life. And that I don't walk around looking like I'm going to punch someone. Lets just blame it on 1) messing up the self-timer, and 2) not having the best of days.

I'm having rather an 'off' day today, which is rather disappointing because I am 99% of the time such a lover of life. Hmpf. I guess these days are necessary somehow in the grand scheme of things.

Finally I got around to finishing off my acid-wash shirt. I threw a bit more bleach on it yesterday while doing some assignments, and wore it to my classes today. I really love the wash of it, my only qualm is that it seems to have enlarged somewhat. Hmph.

Lucky my pretty new bow ring cheered me up! Thanks a bunch to Jess at work for showing it to me at Bling. So wonderfully big, obnoxious and feminine.

I am so, so very grateful for these two people. My mother and father are two of the most beautiful, inspirational, generous people I know, and every day I am thankful that I am their daughter.

For my mother's 50th birthday last weekend, she reasoned that 50 years means five birthday cakes. Lets just say her friends at her party were more than satisfied.

My feet were so wonderfully happy today! The Docs are like cosy slippers, they're amazing. It's such fun stomping around campus in them.

I've completely forgot to mention to say hi to the two lovely girls who came up to me at University a few weeks ago. I am so sorry I was so awkward- I was so surprised that anyone actually recognised me off here.

Uni life is busy busy busy right now. This equates to wearing sneakers and mens t-shirts in my world. It's all fun though, and I'm not overally stressed. Hurrah!

I'm taking a french paper this semester, and it is such fun! However I have observed that it doesn't sound quite so awesome when I open my mouth as it does when I say it in my head... Note to self: Learn to sound elegant when speaking francais!

Also, I have just noticed my skirt is a tad see-through in the light, as demonstrated above. Huh.

The reason for my excitement in the last post: Doc's!!

I've had my eye on these for a while, and finally took the plunge. They are so wonderful, and I know I am going to wear them excessivly this coming winter. Finally I'm beginning to get excited about cooler-weather clothing.

This afternoon I had the urge to bake! Sadly, not these increadible cupcakes, but some equally delicious oatmeal, fruit and seed bars. Do any of you find baking and cooking increadibly relaxing? Its thereputic, I swear.

I fell in love with this cornflower-blue linen, but thought it was a tad dull on its own, so jabbed lots of studs into the waistband and voila! However, I've just realised now that I was wearing it back to front in these images... there is different pleating at the front (the back, here) so I'll have to show you it properly another time. Silly silly.

I picked up this wonderfully oversized striped tee when out thrifting with a friend not too far back. I thought it'd be fun to wear with this red mini, making it even more sailor-esque.

The skirt was origianally one my mother sewed herself, but she wasn't too fussed with it anymore, so I jumped in and snaffled it up to alter. A few taken-in seams later...

I actually have another series of photographs in this skirt to share with you guys as well. I wore it completely differently (zippers and patent leather were involved...) that night, but for uni I thought I'd take it down a notch!

Oh my goodness, I am SO terribly sorry for being completely MIA. My internet has gone completely crazy, and I have just been able to resume online activity. Agh, technology! I have a bunch of photos to share with you all (if you're still there...), so hopefully that will compensate somewhat!

This skirt I whipped up a week ago. I was initially going to make it floor-length, but on a whim decided this frumpy, below-knee length was better. I love how akward and unexpected (and of course, frumpy) it is. My father deemed it my 'sensible skirt'.

I have honestly gone nuts this week, sewing up a billion different skirts. They are so easy and fun to make, and I know I will be getting heaps of wear out of them once University starts up again next week.

I bought this fabric the other day in a sale (cost me $5!). It reminded me instantly of curtains or old-fashioned tapestry rugs. Its kind of a thick corduroy, and has such a great weight to it. Especially fun to wear with a bag I subtly "borrowed" from my mother...

Dear me, I tend to turn a tad loopy when I spend all day at home. Today was a much needed lazy day, spent re-gaining energy. No makeup, comfy clothing, reading in bed, huge salads and sewing. Heaven!

The perfect day to debut my new Kate Sylvester frames. I needed stronger lenses when I went in for my eye check the other day, so I went the whole hog and indulged in these gorgeous new frames. I am ridicuously in love with them, and never want to take them off. Ever.

Such horrid weather here today! Ghastly thunderstorms, rain and wind. Its still rather humid though, so I donned a half winter-half summer ensemble.

I splurged on these riding boots at work yesterday. They are so pretty and beautiful, I just couldn't resist! And they will be so practical and toasty warm for winter.

Another recent acquisition- my new "doctor's" handbag. So darn cute! At $35 you really can not go wrong. Perfect to fit the essentials in. And to take out for lunch at the most amazing Japanese restaurant ever.

Basic, perhaps, but comfortable! I was having a lazy, no-energy day and so slipped into these to get me from A to B.

I was tagged absoloutly ages ago by the brilliant Isaac of Isaac Likes, to list seven things you don't know about me...

1. I hate chocolate. Its just not my cup of tea, and I dislike it more and more every year.

2. I had a mullet when I was six years old. I told the hairdresser exactly what I wanted, and my mother gave her free reign to oblige me! It was awesome.

3. I am a complete perfectionist. Everything has to be clean and tidy. It's getting a little out of hand, actually...

4. I have begun adult beginners ballet lessons. To all who ask, no I am not a trained dancer (sadly), but am slowly working towards rectifying that...

5. I love to get up super early in the morning, when everyone else is still asleap and it's just you and the birds. Its so peaceful and calming.

6. I detest chick-lit. So very, very bad.

7. I sew on my mothers Bernina machine that she bought when she was 19. It is amazing and I adore it, but I cannot wait until I have one of my own.

Happy Valentine's day! I hope everyone is having a beautiful, love-filled day.

I work part-time in retail, and the new autumn/winter collections have recently come out. With it comes a new work outift and a whole lot of temptation...

I fell completely in love with this dress. It reminded me instantly of the Prada fall '08 collection, and I snaffled it up immediatly! A tad impractical for work, perhaps, but so darn pretty! I also clipped in my heart clip to spread the Valentines cheer.

I baked the cupcakes below for my family and fellow CR-workers, because everyone needs some love on Valentines Day! My mother made my day by gifting me a red spatula!! She knows me far too well.

The lust-worthy Cartier ring has been re-created... as a $12 knock-off from the ever-tacky and guilty-pleasure Equip. I saw it a few weeks ago and snaffled it up immediatly. It is so beautiful, and the perfect addition to my ever-growing cocktail ring collection.

Good lord I have been tired lately! (Please excuse the horrid dark rings under my eyes). I passed out at about 9pm last night... dear oh dear, I'm becoming more nana-ish by the day.

Recently my latest American Apparel package arrived! The exchange rate is appalling, but sadly it cannot deter me from my beloved leotards. I fell in love with this nude one is particular. The colour, fit and style are all so perfect. Love.

It's Waitangi Day (a public holiday) here today, so I am off to treck on Rangitoto Island all day. In flats, of course...

Father Christmas paid me a belated visit...

My christmas gift from my parents was ready to be picked up the other day as the jewellers had completed it. SO exciting! It is the completely stunning Karen Walker owl ring which I have been coveting for eons. It is even better than I had imagined.

I paired it with the perfect denim cutoffs which I finally found! I wore them to go try a new Japanese restaurant and pick up my books for University. Fun times all around.

Blazer me up

Oh, how I adore to wear Cream! It is my favourite colour to have on, and it instantly brightens my day. I sewed this blazer ages ago, and finally got around to sewing the button on. Its super over-sized and long enough to eat up my shorts... I swear I am wearing them underneith though!

The ever-amazing and awe-inspiring Agnes at Dream and Fantasy gave me The Honest Scrap Award. It is rather tag-like, in that it asks you to write ten honest truths about yourself.

1. I have miniature hands. They are tiny compared to the rest of me, as are my stumpy little fingers.

2. I have an obsession with Tofu. Marinated and spiced tofu = heaven.

3. William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet sends shivers up my spine. Perfection.

4. I love to be alone. I am very independant and love to spend time by myself, just thinking and being peaceful.

5. I hate mobile phones.

6. I would be insanely happy being a vegetable farmer.

7. Swimming under a blue sky is my definition of happiness.

8. I believe a smile is the most precious thing.

9. I very much dislike malls. Very, very much.

10. I love cemetary's. They are so peaceful and full of so much love.

To the Max

Latest sewing creation! I found this faded black linen and instantly thought it would make the most wonderful, breezy maxi-dress. Its so airy and light to wear... that could be due to the fact that it has thigh-high splits either side, though! It's slightly sheer as well, so when I walk in the sun its a tad unsuitable. Perfect.

Wind also proves to be hilarious, as the front pannel blows in and all you see is LEG. I got rather a lot of shocked looks from passerbys. Perfect way to amuse myself.

I modelled it off a vintage Halston gown I saw Kate Moss in a few years back. I love the simplicity of the plain upper-half, contrasting with the massive side splits.

Exciting news as well! I was featured in the Viva pull-out magazine of the New Zealand Herald yesterday! Super exciting. Although I don't have a scanner, so I'm trying to figure out how to post it on here... I will find a way!

I'm off to Martinborough for a week, so won't be back in the blogisphere until next Thursday (Wednesday in the Northern Hemisphere). I promise plenty of photos to suffice though x

I have literally gone crazy-mad with the scissors lately. I hacked into this grey tank the other day, creating thoroughly satisfying slashes through the rib department. Wonderfully trashy and oh so fun.

I was awarded two blog awards by two beautiful ladies recently.

La Couturier awarded me the "I Love your Blog" award, which is beyond humbling, as she is so phenomenal. If you do not know her blog, you simply must go see it. She is destined for amazing success, with her perfect posts, including the increadible "How to be Fabulous". Her blog brightens the day.

This photograph I took while on a school geography trip to Hawaii in 2007. Standing there on the beach was pure heaven, and having it as the wallpaper on my computer takes me back there every day. I adored it there, it was so relaxed, beautiful and comforting. It it my dream to have a house on the beach there one day (even if its just a tiny shack), so I can spend the days surfing, reading in a hammock, and wearing my bikini 24/7. Bliss.

Inspired by the magnificent Camille of Childhood Flames, I chopped up this $5 mens tshirt the other day. So much fun to just rip into it with the scissors! I love the skeleton-esque cut-out pattern, and it is wonderfully airy to wear in our humid weather at the moment.

I am forever trying to perfectly balance the pretty/ugly genre's with what I wear. I adore messy, oversized, studded pieces, yet I also swoon for pretty, ballerina, feminine pieces... Perhaps I have a split personality.

I have these bow hair clips for such occasions, when my outfit needs a touch of something that screams "I'm a girl!". They instantly amp up the pretty factor.

Hot, sweltering summers days practically beg for dressing in loose mens tshirts. So airy, cool and confortable. Although my choice of black hasn't turned out to be entirally practical... Whoops!

I spent this morning sewing, reading Nancy Mitford in the sunshine, and drinking iced green tea. Heaven! However, I'm now on my way out the door for a silly 3-hour shift at work... So pointless!

On another note entirally... I have just finished reading Paulo Coelho's 'Veronika Decides to Die'. It was AMAZING. It made me think so deeply about what I want from life. I am beyond confused now, but I want to reccomend it to anyone and everyone. It is truly moving!

Todays outfit was chosen purely due to that fact that I am horribly bloated at the moment and need to cover my stomach! I must have eaten something bizzare, and it is SO annoying! I had planned to wear one of my new leotards but that idea was definatly out the window! Does anyone else have horrid problems like this at times? It is most frustrating.

Though in saying that, I do love wearing this dress. It is so breezy and light to wear, and I adore the tone of it. I am a huge fan of neutral colours. I feel like a doll in it as well, as it is quite cute!

Until I was about sixteen, I was a complete tomboy. I wore only trainers, shorts and tshirt and never wore my hair out.
I'm obsessed with barbequed vegetables. Try asparagus, aubergine and courgette. Yum!

Yet another ballet-inspired outift. I adore full, feminine skirts (In case you hadn't noticed...), they make me feel so graceful and elegant. This outfit screamed for a skull ring and mens watch though... I must get onto that as soon as possible!

I went out for breakfast this morning with my gorgeous friend whose style constrasts so much to mine. I'm trying to persuede her to make an appearance on here, as I adore observing all different styles. Isn't fashion so wonderful, that it allows us to express ourselves in such a personal and visible way? So much fun!

Also... any suggestions on where to buy the perfect skull ring? I've taken a fancy to one from Ruby (have any new zealand bloggers seen it?), but am not 100% sure.

My goodness, I haven't posted in A WEEK!! SO sorry, I have been camping with my friends for New Years and whatnot, and the time just flew away on me. We were down in Gisborne for 'Rhythm and Vines' (a music festival- click here to see). It was amazing and I had the most perfect time. 2009 is going to be an amazing year!

I sewed this skirt recently, and whipped it on today for a bit of fabric hunting and the like. I saw a Karen Walker bow-front skirt in an editorial a little while ago, and thought that I could make one! I chose this checker-board silk to sew it in though, to make it not quite so feminine. I have noticed that I am dressing more and more feminine lately though. Bizzare.
